Chapter 1INTRODUCTION Background of the study In the industrial development, one of the cotributing factor is electric energy that converts into mechanical energy or other forms of energy. An electric motor is a device used to convert electrical to mechanical energy (UXL Encyclopedia of Science, 2002). Electrical motors are very important to our daily life, it is usually used in home appliances, personal gadgets and other things that uses electrical motor. With the rising cost of energy, the issued gained much attention to everyone to conserve electrical energy. In electric motor there are different types the AC and DC motor.An AC motor like any electric motor, converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. AC motors take as their input an ac current, but differ from dc motors in that there is no commutation involved, and can be single or multi-phase (Motion Control Tips Editor, 2011). AC motor highly flexible in many features and can probably runs at 240 V.An DC motor are motion components that take electrical power in the form of direct current (or some manipulated form of direct current) and convert it into mechanical rotation (Lisa Eitel, 2011). DC motor are the simplest type of motor and are used in appliances at home, and a DC motor will likely run between 96 and 192 V. This study is mainly helpful to the society to have more knowledge about the electric motor and can be explained to explain further the information about electric motor.The main purpose of this study is for the researchers to identify the importance of electric motor and the benefits to the human society. The result of this study will help the human society about the importance of electric motor into their daily life.Statement of the ProblemThis study aims to determine the importance and the benefits of electric motor to the human society.1. How does electric motor is important to the society? 2. What are the benefits in using electric motor? Theoretical and Conceptual Framework It is no longer contentious to say that the future of land, water and air vehicles is to be more and more electric. The detail of how this is being achieved is rich and varied and it revolves around the electric motor and its variants far more than the more-discussed battery (Peter Harrop, 2016) . If you’re sitting in a bedroom, you’ll find motors in hair dryers and many toys; in the bathroom, they’re in extractor fans, and electric shavers; in the kitchen, motors are in just about every appliance from clothes washing machines and dishwashers to coffee grinders, microwaves, and electric can openers. Electric motors have proved themselves to be among the greatestinventions of all time ( Chris Woodford, 2017).
